Introduction

The Town of East Fremantle has identified the need to develop a Local Commercial Needs Assessment Strategy (the Strategy) to support planning for appropriate commercial development. The Strategy will be underpinned by a robust analysis that identifies gaps in the provision of commercial uses, an understanding of current trends, and how they may affect demand for commercial uses in the future.

This Strategy will establish the long-term vision, encourage redevelopment and guide future public and private investment in the Town’s centres. The strategy will also assist in encouraging high quality development outcomes and improvement of streetscapes and public places over time to develop liveable neighbourhoods in line with resident and business expectations.

The Town has engaged Pracsys, an economics specialist, to undertake the strategy. It is essential that we understand the characteristics of each precinct (or activity centre) and the surrounding areas to provide an evidence base for future recommendations.

This Survey will help to identify the current performance of precincts, and consider ways in which the Town, the local community and businesses can work together to achieve the desired outcomes.
