Volunteering with LDSPMA

The Latter-day Saint Publishing and Media Association (LDSPMA) appreciates all who are willing to assist our board of directors with the many tasks needed to run and advance our association. The work is remote and requires 1–5 hours per week (including regularly responding to any LDSPMA emails you receive). If you would like to volunteer, please complete the following form.

We currently need help on the following committees:

Conference Committee: The Conference Committee is dedicated to providing an amazing and unforgettable experience for the attendees of our annual conference (held each year in the fall). Each year, we need a set of devoted track organizers to contact speakers and panelists for a specific track of breakout sessions. We also need volunteers to help organize networking events such as signings or pitch meetings, organize online or virtual events, help with the filming and broadcasting of the sessions, and help with other logistical or administrative needs before or during the conference.

Awards Committee: The awards committee manages the Praiseworthy Award contests, Lifetime Achievement Awards, and implementing and managing any new contest ideas. Committee members are responsible to publicize the awards' contests on social media, to all local and near-local winter/spring writing conferences, publishing houses, blog lists, magazines, film festivals, podcast creators, university departments with creative content assignments. For the Praiseworthy Awards, the committee collects digital or hardcopies of all entries, and disburses to jurors of each of the different categories/genres by early summer. They notify the winners and honorable mention recipients about the award and the award ceremony at the upcoming conference. They then create the certificates, the digital seals, and the PowerPoint presentation for the awards ceremony.

Membership Committee: The membership committee is focused on helping more know about and join us in this great work. You will be able to participate in setting goals and creating membership campaigns by sharing your ideas and energy in reaching out to possible members and encouraging our membership to do the same. You will also be encouraged to propose ideas for content that would be of value to our members.

Marketing and Media Committee: The marketing and media committee is concerned with effectively promoting LDSPMA's events, initiative, and opportunities, particularly its annual conference. Committee members draft, edit, and format weekly blog posts, manage the organization's social media platforms, and create marketing initiatives. This committee is always looking for individuals who have marketing and/or media backgrounds, know-how, passion, or connections within the media and entertainment communities.

Technical Committee: The technical committee is currently primarily concerned with updating the website. They work with the marketing committee to make it look up-to-date and create/add content that would be of value to our membership. People with WordPress or web design experience strongly preferred. Experience with MailChimp is a bonus.
