What is punctuality in the Workplace

Why does a business need it’s employees to be punctual?
It goes without saying that businesses need people to show up on time to get the job done. Although this seems like common sense, you will probably encounter a few employees who are chronically late. For business leaders, tardiness needs to be addressed because it affects productivity and – ultimately – the reputation of an organisation.
Showing up for work on time everyday.

Punctuality is a sign of professionalism and helps you stand out as a reliable and trustworthy employee. If you don't get your part of the work completed on time, you keep others from being able to finish their tasks. Being punctual helps you establish your reputation as a dependable and consistent worker.
What are some ways you can ensure you are punctual?
Be prepared to be on time. Ensure you know how long your journey to work will take - and allow for things to go wrong ie. need to get petrol, bus comes 2 minutes early etc. Use a watch or your phone to track the time, make sure you allow yourself time to get ready, allow time for a shower, and time to have breakfast. Have your work clothes ready laid out the night before so you are not searching for something to wear the next day.
Why is being punctual so important?

Punctuality displays a person's respect for people and time. Punctuality is more important in the workplace because you get paid for the hours you put in. Employees are expected to be punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of their employer.
How does being late affect your team?
Punctuality and good time management are skills demanded by employers across all industries. That's because being late has the ability to negatively affect whole teams, disrupt work flow and gives you a reputation for being unprofessional.
