The National Juneteenth Museum is partnering with The Juneteenth Freedom Bell Project, a statewide public art initiative led by Sam Collins III, historian and founder of the Juneteenth Legacy Project, to honor the stories, people and communities across Texas that have a historical connection to the Juneteenth holiday. We invite artists from across Texas to apply to design the Juneteenth Freedom Bell for the city of Fort Worth.
Artists will develop an original bell design inspired by the local history of Juneteenth in Fort Worth, incorporating community narratives, and highlighting the enduring significance of freedom. Selected designs will be transformed into a functional cast bell through a collaborative process with experienced fabricators.
