Cristy Rutter-Chu (Children's Mercy Hospital)
My current work position is Education and Professional Development Program Manager. In this role, I support Unit Education Coordinators with Continuing Education and serving as a consultant regarding their department's educational needs, I co-manage a safety program designed to increase awareness of error prevention strategies, and I co-manage a behavioral health education program designed to inform hospital staff of best practices related to verbal and physical de-escalation. Additionally, I currently serve as Secretary for the HOA NPD. I'm interested in working with Nursing Professional Development professionals throughout the Kansas City area to improve staff education, thereby improving patient care. My specific interests in the field of Nursing Professional Development include promoting diversity and inclusion, as well as discovering the best methods to promote effective learning in patient communication. Thank you for your consideration.
Shelly Reeve
My name is Shelly Reeve MSN, RN, PCCN, and I have been a member of the HOA ANPD for approximately one year. I have been a nurse for 20 years at North Kansas City Hospital. Prior to coming to the NPD department, I worked as a charge nurse on a Progressive Care Unit. I moved to the NPD department in January 2020 where I took a position as the Night Shift Educator. I did my capstone here at NKCH’s NPD department for the Nurse Residency Program in 2017 and have taught several different classes before becoming a full-time educator. I am currently an ACLS and BLS instructor and am working towards obtaining the PALS instructor certification. Other than normal everyday duties as an educator, I take part in the planning and facilitating of the Bi State Stroke Symposium every year.

Tabby Nelson (Children's Mercy Hospital)
Tabby Nelson, BSN, RN, CCRN-K, NPD-BC. Tabby has been in a nursing professional development role for over 5 years as a unit-based education coordinator in the PICU and CICU at Children's Mercy Kansas City. She was first introduced to ANPD while participating in a NPD certification review course in 2017. ANPD has been influential in her professional growth and inspired her to pursue a master's degree in nursing education, which she will complete in November. Since joining ANPD, Tabby has been very active and attended both the 2019 and 2020 national conferences. So far, she has enjoyed attending local meetings and conferences for our HOA affiliate and she is excited for the opportunity to be more involved in our HOA affiliate to grow our membership, share her love for the NPD specialty, and continue to grow and develop her NPD skillset. Her experience, strong communication skills and aptitude for learning and using technology make her a strong candidate for this position.
Callie Ballenger (HCA)
Hello! I am Callie Ballenger. I am the Nurse Residency Coordinator for the MidAmerica Region of HCA. I have been a member of ANPD for about 10 years when I was in NPD roles. Education and professional development is my niche in nursing. I love sharing my passion with the current and future generations of nurses to support them in having a happy and healthy nursing career. I am the nurse educator I am today thanks to my involvement in ANPD. The strength and reliability of professional organizations is dependent on their membership supporting and giving back. As Marketing Director I would have the opportunity of sharing the opportunities that ANPD offers with the members as well as in the recruitment of new members. People enjoy seeing a return on investment for their dues paid to their professional organization and by making members aware of meeting dates and other opportunities that ANPD offers this is one way for them to be active members of the organization.
