Illinois Department of Natural Resources Public Museum Capital Grant Program |
The Fox Valley Park District is proposing to improve the lobby of the Red Oak Nature Center by:
- Removing the lobby tree exhibit to increase lobby area for additional learning space, gathering and event staging.
- Replacing the existing lobby fish tank with a more expansive exhibit that will set the tone for the Red Oak Nature Center learning experience by highlighting the theme - “Water Connects Us All.” Specifically, this exhibit which may include new tanks, will address healthy and unhealthy stream and river ecosystems.
- Upgrade the Augmented Reality sandbox as a reliable interactive guest exhibit that is featured in the lobby.
- Add a new ceiling to floor light projection system and sound system to expand the sensory nature immersion and learning experience.
We are seeking an $85,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Public Museum Capital Grant Program to fund these improvements.
We welcome your feedback.
