Artist Application & Guidelines

Main Street Arts & Music invites all Fortville, Hancock County, and Central Indiana artists to study "Heart," "Heritage," "Health," and "Interstellar" as part of our 2019 Arts at the Carnegie season. Fortville was designated a Stellar Community by the State of Indiana in late 2018, and the gallery's 2019 season will allow artistic interpretations of these Stellar themes.

SCHEDULE
February 2019: The Heart of Work Exhibit—where artists depict in their work product the experiences and influencers that inspire their work  

April 2019: ArtBattle I 2019 (see artbattle.com for more information)

May/June 2019: “Heritage” will be the theme of the Exhibit, conducted via the Plein Air event (see https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3C762LZ?fbclid=IwAR0ND61UxziXElRn8yUOZjQFFgcRTZ37ZFFbeijRSZ80Ak-MVoKrV4BHGaU)

August 2019: Interpretations of “Health” where artists convey the impacts of health, the origins of health, and the inspirations behind health in submitted pieces.

September 2019: ArtBattle I 2019 (see artbattle.com for more information)

October: [Inter]Stellar will be the theme of the Exhibit—both as a nod to our Stellar designation and to usher in our 2-month NASA exclusive Exhibit planned for Nov/Dec; work product will be on space, journeys/travel, and “eyes to the sky”

REGISTRATION: No entry fees are required. Registration is open to all artists and media choices.

ABOUT FORTVILLE: The Indiana town is in Hancock County and has a population of +/- 5,000. Fortville holds designations as a Stellar Community, Main Street Community, and a Tree City.  

RULES: Artists are allowed to enter unlimited pieces of work for any of these events in the series. However, Main Street Arts & Music reserves the right to limit artwork on display based on space considerations, subject matter, and quality of work. All artwork for exhibition is to be submitted to Main Street Arts & Music at the Carnegie (located at 115 N Main Street) between 3PM and 5:00 PM on the last Friday of the month preceding the exhibit. Throughout the exhibits the gallery will accept via silent auction bids on the exhibited pieces, with a 30% commission shared to the non-profit Main Street Arts & Music gallery to support continued operation.

IMAGES: Main Street Arts & Music reserves the right to reproduce the images of accepted artwork for promotional purposes.

LIABILITY: The artist is responsible for insuring their artwork if desired while on location at other participating venues, or in transit.

PROPERTY: The artwork will remain property of Main Street Arts & Music for the sole purpose of exhibits and shows in the Fortville, Indiana area until sold.

* 3. Please acknowledge this waiver of liability: I, as an artist or representing the identified artist, recognize the efforts of the organizer’s officers, directors and staff to put on this series. I also recognize that participation in this program includes inherent risks of injury or damage to myself and those I represent and to others. I further recognize and acknowledge the efforts of the presenting organizers, officers, directors and staff to obtain full coverage insurance at their election for all riders and participants in this program, acknowledging their inability to obtain such blanket insurance coverage at reasonable and affordable prices. Therefore, in return for the privilege of participating in the Series , I hereby give this, my unconditional waiver of liability and hold harmless agreement, to and in favor of Fortville Action, Inc., the Town of Fortville, and Main Street Arts & Music together with all of its organizers, officers, directors and staff. By executing this waiver form, I do hereby state that I have the actual and legal authority to bind the organization or representation on whose behalf I am executing same. Furthermore, I individually, and the organization or represented upon whose behalf I am acting on, agree to forever release and discharge said organizations together with all of their officers, directors, staff and employees, together with the organizers of the Series from any and all liability for any injury or harm that I individually, or my organization or my represented person may suffer as a result of participation in this Series or any activities that are preparatory or subsequent thereto. This waiver and hold harmless agreement shall apply in favor of said organizations, their officers, directors, employees and staff, together with the organizers and sponsors of the Series, regardless of fault, negligence or omission which may lead to any injury or damage.
