Advances in brain tumor imaging and treatment are creating new opportunities to understand tumor biology and treatment response. This session will explore how metabolic information can complement conventional imaging, with a focus on IDH-mutant gliomas, 2-HG, LITT, and emerging applications in neuro-oncology.
Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve learners’ knowledge and confidence in incorporating metabolic information into the multidisciplinary management of patients with brain tumors.
Target Audience
This session is intended for neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with brain tumors.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe current perspectives and evolving treatment strategies for patients with IDH-mutant gliomas
- Explain the role of 2-hydroxyglutarate and other metabolic biomarkers in the diagnosis, characterization, and monitoring of brain tumors
- Evaluate how metabolic information can complement treatment planning and response assessment, including in patients undergoing LITT
- Identify emerging opportunities to incorporate metabolic biomarkers into tumor management
- Discuss practical approaches to incorporating metabolic information into clinical workflows and decision-making
Space is limited so be sure to register in advance. This session is a non-CME event.
