Management on incidental radiological findings in pediatric brain – a consensus of experts from EANS Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Dear colleagues!

With the improved availability of radiological investigations such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in high- and middle-income countries, we witness an increasing number of referrals based on incidental findings in pediatric brain imaging. There is currently no consensus among neurosurgeons as to the appropriate management of these findings. Therefore, we aim to reach a consensus among neurosurgeons organized in the Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery, the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS), and the European Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN), as well as all other individual members of EANS.

First, we want to perform a survey on current practice. We would therefore kindly ask you to answer the questions below. All information provided will be handled confidentially.

In the next step, we will organize a joint consensus meeting during the next EANS congress in October this year and discuss the findings, in order to reach a consensus, wherever possible. Results from the survey and consensus – if reached – will be also the subject of an article that we intend to get published in Brain and Spine, the official journal of EANS.
