This two-day practical workshop is intended for occupational therapists who wish to understand what cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is and begin to use CBT approaches in their occupational therapy practice. Self-reflection, lecture and hands-on practice opportunities will be utilized to assist participants in learning a framework for understanding the skills that support positive connections with clients, the foundations of CBT, the ‘5 Ws’ and how to utilize CBT in occupational therapy practice. Audio and/or video presentations will be included to support learning. Participants will be expected to complete a short reflective task prior to the workshop and complete a homework exercise the evening of Day 1.

Day 1
- How to promote positive engagement with clients
- Foundations of CBT
- Homework:  An exercise in demonstrating understanding

Day 2
- ‘5 Ws’ of CBT
- How to start using CBT in every day occupational therapy practice
