After participating in this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Distinguish between obstructive SDB and OSA in terms of epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology/end-organ dysfunction, diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Recognize risk factors for perioperative respiratory adverse events (PRAEs) in the child scheduled for elective adenotonsillectomy.
  3. Apply appropriate perioperative risk reduction strategies for PRAEs including disposition planning and analgesic optimization for children undergoing adenotonsillectomy.
  4. Review optimal analgesic options for AT patients.
  5. Apply decision making tools to assist in post-operative disposition for AT patients.
