Community of Hearts New Program Feedback Survey

Community of Hearts is currently taking feedback from participants and their support/caregivers for new programming at Community of Hearts. Your feedback will help us decide on our new Day Program subjects as well as our Evening Programs subjects for the future.

1.Please check off ALL programs you believe would be good programs to run in our Day Program:

Voting/Politics: Learning about political parties, how to vote and learn about candidates during elections.

Learning about and visiting resources in the City: Library, Museum, Second Chance, Art Studios, Rec. Centres Etc

Team Building/Leadership: Doing activities to work on skills around team building, working together in collaborative activities, and building leadership skill

Mythology: Learning about cultural mythology around the world, folklore and creatures.

Job Skills: Learn about resources, gain job skills and visit places for potential employment/career choices in Guelph

Self Advocacy: Learning about and practicing self advocacy, building skills, knowing your rights, building effective support systems etc.

Current Events: Learning about things going on around the world, news and understanding the world a little better (local and worldwide).

History: Learning about history around the world, examples: Stone age, Medieval times, big moments in history, etc.

Science: Learning about different aspects of science and doing science based activities (astronomy, biology, etc)

Lived experience and guest speakers: Learning about famous and influential people and having members of our community coming in and speaking about their life experiences.

Volunteering in the community: Going out and volunteering at another organization and helping the community and gaining volunteering skills

Grocery Shopping and Nutrition: Practicing grocery shopping, learning about skills for grocery shopping, budgeting, meal planning and learning about food choices.

In-home and community safety: Learn about fire safety, community safety, in-home, online safety, etc.

Targeted fitness: Learning about targeted exercises, example: core, legs, arms, balance, flexibility etc.

Creative expression: Working on writing and creative skills, working together to create a book or zine or writings and drawings together to give out to the community

Altered Rep and media: Focused on discussions around documentaries including: nature, activists, cultures, history, musicians etc.

Videography: Learning about film making, acting or screenwriting

ASL: Learning about ASL, signs and how to use them and what they mean

Expanded Finances: Learning about banking, budgeting, utilizing services and planning for your future

Expanding Book Club: Reading new books and working on reading, public speaking and analyzing skills

Dancing: Learning about different types of dance, and learning to do them and do fun new exercises

Math in everyday life: Learning about practical math and how to us it, budgeting, taxes, shopping, etc

Sleep hygiene: How to get a good sleep, why it’s important, tips and tricks for relaxation, meditation and mindfulness

Photography: Learn about photography, photographers, guest presenters and practice taking photos
