Terms and Conditions
1. ENTRANT ELIGIBILITY
1.1 An individual entrant must be 18 years of age or older and either:
(a) an Australian citizen; or
(b) an Australian resident, being a person who is lawfully domiciled in Australia, and who has actually been in Australia, continuously or intermittently, for more than one half of the year immediately preceding the application.
1.2 An entrant that is a company must be incorporated and carrying on business in Australia, and have its central management and control in Australia.
1.3 Entrant teams can consist of up to 2 people most responsible for the creation of the story and the drafting of the screenplay.
1.4 Participation in AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks and any related activities, including travel, is at the entrants’ own risk.
2. SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
Entrants may submit a single pitch submission to AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks by visiting the AACTA website (dedicated page TBA) and completing the entry form and supplying specified supporting material ("Submission").
Metro based entrants - A $60 non AACTA/AFI/AWG/Screenworks member, or $50 AACTA/AFI/AWG/Screenworks member entry fee is required to enter a single project in the AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks competition.
Regional based entrants – A $40 non AACTA/AFI/AWG/Screenworks member, or $30 AACTA/AFI/AWG/Screenworks member entry fee is required to enter a single project in the AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks competition.
Non AFI/AACTA entrants who become an AFI member ($80 Full) at entry receive free entry into AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks.
2.1 To be an eligible entry, the Submission MUST:
(a) be wholly owned (the all intellectual property) by the entrant(s). No proxy Submissions will be accepted;
(b) be for a feature film set in an Australian regional location.
(c) be a new and original concept which has not yet been commissioned and for which the worldwide rights are still available.
(d) include the following entry materials:
(i) Title; and
(ii) Logline (1 – 2 sentence description of the film); and
(iii) ½ page (approx. 500 words) description of the regional area where the film is set; and
(iv) 1 page Treatment/Synopsis; and
(v) First 5 pages of the screenplay; and
(vi) Résumé/CVs of all members of the team.

2.2 Correct entry information is the responsibility of the entrant. Entrants warrant that all of the information provided, including the information provided on the AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks entry form and the credits and résumé/CVs of all members of the team, is true and correct.
2.3 By submitting to AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks, finalists automatically grant AACTA permission to use the title, logline, 1 page treatment/synopsis, ½ page description of the setting (in whole or in part) for PR and the marketing of AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks.
3. SHORTLISTING, FINALISTS AND AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks EVENT
3.1 Submissions will be reviewed and shortlisted by a committee made up of AACTA and Screenworks executive.
3.2 Up to five finalists will be selected to pitch their screenplay to an Industry Panel, in front of a live audience, at the Screenworks Business of Production conference in Ballina on Friday March 20, 2020. Only finalists will be notified.
3.3 By entering a Submission, the entrant acknowledges that, if the entrant is selected as a finalist, one of the team members of the entrant ("Pitcher") must attend Screenworks Business of Production conference in Ballina and present up to 3 minute live pitch. No use of video, visual aids, sound recordings, props, or handouts will be allowed during the pitch.
3.4 Each Pitcher will have up to 3 minutes to convince the Industry Panel that they have the best regionally set feature film idea in the room. Decisions by the Panel are final.
3.5 The winning finalist ("Winner") will be notified in person at the AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks event.
4. PRIZES
4.1 AACTA will provide any Pitcher that does not reside in New South Wales with:
(a) a complimentary return economy flight (ex- nearest capital city) to be booked at times mutually agreeable to both parties. Flights once booked are final and any costs incurred for changes will be the responsibility of the Pitcher.
4.2 Screenworks will provide any Pitcher that resides in Regional New South Wales with:
(a) Complimentary travel to be booked at times mutually agreeable to both parties. Travel once booked are final and any costs incurred for changes will be the responsibility of the Pitcher.
4.3 The Winner will receive:
(a) Access to the AWG Pathways Program; and
(b) Script development guidance (2 x read, 2 x consult) from an experienced screenwriter to guide the next phase of screenplay development; and
(c) A guidance and feedback session with each of the AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks judges/Industry Panel. Sessions will be scheduled at times agreed upon by both parties; and
(d) 3 Day pass to all sessions at the Screenworks Business of Producing seminar; and
(e) 1 x Annual AACTA membership; and
(f) 1 x Annual Screenworks membership; and
(g) 1 x Annual AWG Associate membership; and
(h) Two (2) tickets to the 2020 AACTA Awards Industry Luncheon on Monday 30 November 2020 and two (2) tickets to the 2020 AACTA Awards Ceremony & After Party on Wednesday 2 December 2020. Attendees must cover their own flights and accommodation if needed.
4.4 All prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
5. GENERAL
5.1 Entrants consent to the publication of the names of each team member of the entrant if the entrant is the Winner.
5.2 Any Submission that does not comply with these terms is invalid.
5.3 Beneficiaries of any prize accept the prize ‘as is’ and acknowledge that AACTA does not accept any responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from their receipt of any prize. Beneficiaries should seek independent financial advice.
5.4 AACTA reserves the right to verify the validity of any Submission and any entrant and may disqualify any entrant whom AACTA has reason to believe has breached any of these terms.
5.5 Failure by AACTA to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
5.6 Nothing in these terms limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act or or similar consumer protection laws in the states and territories of Australia ("Non-Excludable Guarantees").
5.7 Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, AACTA and its their related entities are not responsible for and exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties (whether or not under AACTA's control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by AACTA) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of AACTA; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these terms; (e) any tax liability incurred by a beneficiary of a prize; (f) use/taking of the prize (g) the AACTA PITCH: Regional Landscapes event.
5.8 In these terms:
(a) "AACTA" means the Australian Film Institute (ABN 17 006 725 266)
