West Coast Ocean Data Network Technical Assistance Survey
The West Coast Governors Alliance (WCGA, http://westcoastoceans.org) is funding a contractor with NOAA Regional Ocean Partnership funds to assist WCGA partners to develop, enhance, and connect their data resources (i.e. data, metaddata, services) to the WCODP as well as other state and national systems. This is a chance to get support and resources to fill gaps and needs within your agency, organization or tribe. Tell us how we can direct these funds!
This contractor will provide directed support to specific identified partners in the form of technical guidance and support, direct data and metadata development, service creation, and registration of metadata in the WCODP and state systems for data and catalogs of high value and priority to the West Coast. This survey will also help us refine current data priorities to inform WCGA, NOAA, and BOEM data priorities for the West Coast.
This survey is geared towards data managers of state and federal agencies, tribes, NGO and universities and will help the WCGA direct technical support and resources to help your organization publish geospatial data to state, regional, and federal catalogs. By including data in these portals, we can advertise the existence and increase access and use of that data to new audiences to inform ocean policy.
The goal of the West Coast Ocean Data Portal (WCODP, http://portal.westcoastoceans.org) is to increase the discoverability and connectivity of ocean and coastal data and people to inform regional ocean issues. In many cases, rich data already exist, but because of time, capacity, and funding issues partners are not able to connect their catalogs to the WCODP, or state and federal portals, therefore limiting the ability of these systems to inform state, regional, or national decision making.
Please take five minutes to fill out this short survey if you think your agency, organization, or tribe has a dataset or data catalog that you think could benefit from this additional support. If you have questions, please contact Todd Hallenbeck (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks!
