The full application process is 5 steps.
1. You submit this application and send in your supporting documents.
2. Our team will review them, contact your references, and respond within 7 days.
3. If your interests, skills, and experience align with NHFC’s mission, values, and needs, additional documents will be provided for you to review, sign, and return to NHFC.
4. If you are interested in an upcoming trip, we will schedule a Zoom interview to discuss a potential trip and determine fit. Please note that alignment with our values does not guarantee travel.
5. If it's a good fit, you will purchase your flight tickets. There is a $750 fee payable to NHFC to cover lodging, shuttle, fuel, etc. More information will be provided to walk you through these steps. Both flights and mission trip fees are tax-deductible.

If selected for a trip, you will receive more travel information, but just so you are aware of a few things:

Travel & Lodging Expectations
*Team members are responsible for covering their own food, lodging, and travel expenses.
*Flights should be arranged individually. Our team typically flies into Warsaw, takes a 8-10 hour shuttle/bus ride to Lviv, and stays at our safe house (note: no air conditioning).
*In Poland, lodging is at a hotel near the airport. In Ukraine, accommodations are either at our apartment or a nearby Airbnb/hotel. The apartment is equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, and stove, though utilities (water, electricity, heat, internet) may be unavailable for hours or even days due to the war.

Meals & Supplies
*Team members should plan to bring easy, non-perishable “on-the-go” meals and snacks (e.g., trail mix, granola bars, jerky, tuna packets).
*Limited groceries are available in Ukraine, but variety and supply cannot be guaranteed.
*Restaurants are available but may close during air raids.
*Bottled water will be provided at the apartment.

* 4. As a faith-based Christian organization, we believe that God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth, where He lived a perfect life. He was crucified, died, and rose again on the third day to save sinners from eternal separation from God. We confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior and seek to follow and honor Him in all that we do. Our mission is to live out His command to care for orphaned children.

While we do not require our mission trip volunteers to share our faith, we do ask that all participants respect our mission and refrain from actions or behaviors that would compromise our beliefs, such as speaking against the Bible or Jesus Christ. This does not include welcomed, respectful conversations about beliefs among team members away from the children and those we serve. Often, our team leader will pray for the children, for the team, or other situations.
