Dear Applicant Recommender,
The Newport News (VA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will award a $2500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior within our service areas of Newport News, Williamsburg- James City County, York County, and Gloucester, Virginia. The scholarship is available to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement and leadership in her school and community and will matriculate at either an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) degree-granting four-year college/university or a two year college.
Thank you for agreeing to write a recommendation for the applicant to our scholarship. Your input in invaluable as we look into the scholars leadership, community commitment and scholarly aptitude.
The Links, Incorporated was established in 1946 and has a current membership of nearly 14,000 professional women of color in 282 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer services organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
All recommendations must be completed and submitted by April 14th, 2026. The application link for the scholarship can be found on the Chapter’s website at www.newportnewslinks.org. Recommendations received after the deadline will not be considered.
