St Mark's MEWG

The St. Mark’s Mid East Working Group (MEWG) was chartered by the vestry in 2013.  We have sought to: work for peace, reconciliation, and justice for the people of Palestine and Israel by:  promoting greater understanding of historic and current issues in the Middle East; partnering with peace-seeking individuals and groups in all faith communities, both here and abroad; and supporting our Anglican brothers and sisters in the Holy Land   To that end, we have sponsored activities ranging from olive oil sales and educational programs to pilgrimages to the Holy Land.  We are grateful for the support we have received at St. Mark’s and are seeking your feedback as we prepare for the future.

7.We raise funds every year to support the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, particularly its hospitals - through the passed plate at the Maundy Thursday dinner, the Good Friday offering or in special offerings.  Have you ever given to any of these?
8.Support for St. Mark’s participation in Good Neighbors Capitol Hill, which assists Afghan refugees resettling locally, began with and has been sustained by the Mid East Working Group.  Do you know about the Good Neighbors Capitol Hill program?
9.Have you been involved in the Good Neighbors program by donating money or supplies or by volunteering to serve as a mentor or to set up apartments for arriving families?
