Established by Brooke Grove Foundation and the Olney Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Olney-Sandy Spring ATHENA Award is presented in memory of Brooke Grove Founder Eleanor Howe Marston, R.N., to recognize and honor women who demonstrate a "dedication of self and a generosity of spirit" through professional and personal leadership and community service.

Award Criteria:
  • Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination.
  • Nominees must live, work or volunteer and make a significant impact on the Greater Olney-Sandy Spring area.
  • Nominations may be resubmitted after a one-year hiatus.
  • Committee members may not submit nominations or be nominated.

Include length of service and offices held in civic and service organizations such as charitable activities, political pursuits, religious groups, chambers of commerce, merchants' associations, etc.

* 5. Personal Leadership: Provide examples of how the nominee has assisted women in reaching their full leadership potential and/or demonstrated support for their professional advancement.

* 6. Additional Information: List awards and honors received, publications or articles supporting service to their profession, industry or community. Particular consideration will be given to nominees who have demonstrated a "dedication of self and a generosity of spirit" toward the Greater Olney-Sandy Spring community.
