Guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
Persons or Community groups who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years
Community Citizen of the Year
A person who has contributed outstanding service to the community within the Shire
A person who has contributed outstanding service to the community within the Shire
Young Citizen of the Year
A person under the age of 25 years of age on 26 January 2026 who has delivered outstanding service to the community within the Shire.

Senior Citizen of the Year
A person must be 65 years or over on 26 January 2025 who has contributed outstanding service within the Shire.

Active Citizen of the Year
Recognizes a person or group for their active leadership and significant contribution to the community, often demonstrated through a substantial initiative or ongoing involvement in the past year.
Recipients will have been judged to have shown:
· Significant contribution the local community over and above what is normally expected from their paid employment/business
· Significant contribution the local community over and above what is normally expected from their paid employment/business
· Demonstrated leadership on a community issue resulting in the enhancement of community life
· A significant initiative which has brought about positive change and added value to community life
· Inspiring qualities as a role model for the community
Conditions
· Nominees should reside or work principally with the Shire of Mount Magnet
· Nominees should reside or work principally with the Shire of Mount Magnet
· Self-nominations will not be accepted
· Sitting Elected Members, sitting members of State or Federal Government are not eligible
· No weight is given to the number of times a person or organisation is nominated
· Nominees must have demonstrated leadership on a community issue resulting in the enhancement of community life
Nominations Close 13th November 2025
Council Selection Panel will decide winners at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 26th November 2025
