The AASW is committed to supporting social workers through their professional journey, from student to graduate, through to senior social workers and now AASW Fellow.

Background

The AASW is currently developing the Fellowship credential for members who are leaders and those aspiring to lead the social work profession. Being an AASW Fellow will demonstrate to peers both here and abroad that a social worker has the necessary qualifications, experience, and life-long learning and are an acknowledged leader.

Identified with the post-nominal FAASW, the credential will carry the prestige and clout deserving of such an honour. Obtaining the credential will be challenging but will demonstrate work at the pinnacle of social work practice. It will be an acknowledgment of substantial knowledge and application of conceptual, practical, organisational and communication skills. It will also reflect an ongoing commitment to the social work profession.

FAASW will be designed, awarded and celebrated in such a way that employers will seek out FAASW holders to be integral leaders of, and thought leaders within teams.

We are seeking expressions of interest for expert advisors to provide input into the development of the AASW Fellowship.
