Tell the NDIA how the price changes will affect you as a Participant

The NDIA has decided to 'immediately' implement recommendations from the Independent Pricing Review as of July 1st 2018 that relate to funding for therapy supports under the NDIS. Please have a look at their recommendations and the pricing review so you are well informed to make your own decisions about how these changes will affect you as a participant in the NDIS.

https://www.ndis.gov.au/medias/documents/ndia-ipr-response-pdf/NDIA-IPR-Response.pdf.

Your responses will be collated and submitted to the NDIA.

Survey Monkey estimates this will take 6 minutes to complete. However if you wish to provide additional comment by all means take your time!
Due date for responses is March 26th 2018.

Participants can also advocate directly to the NDIA, or to their Federal minister.

Providers have avenues to advocate through their professional associations and this survey run by OT Australia happy to accept submissions from all allied health (eg. OT, speech, physiotherapy, psychology) http://bit.ly/2De4r1V

This survey is for participants or their families.

This survey is purely to gather participant perspectives and is not affiliated with any provider bodies.

Questions about this survey can be directed to ndis.advocacy@gmail.com

Question Title

* 1. Recommendation 17: "Develop differentiated price levels for physical
therapy and psychological therapy based on price
levels being paid in comparable schemes." Participants will be put into levels depending on how 'complex' their needs are. Details have not been released   on who will make this decision at the planning stage, or how levels will be determined. Therapist will be paid bewteen  $110 - 120 per hour; level 2 $140 - 150 per hour, level 3 $180 - 190 per hour. The current pay rates are capped at  $178.98 per hour for early childhood and $175.57 otherwise. How much to you agree or disagree with this change?

Question Title

* 2. Why do you feel this way about recommendation 17?

Question Title

* 3. Recommendation 18: Therapy assistants will be paid at two different levels depending on their qualifications. NDIS presenters at forums this week have stated this will increase the use of therapy assistants in participant plans.  How much to you agree or disagree with this change?

Question Title

* 4. Why do you feel this way about recommendation 18?

Question Title

* 5. Recommendation 19: Providers will be able to charge up to 20 minutes at the hourly rate when travelling between participants in metropolitan areas but no more. From the forums it appears that travel will continue to be costed under therapy supports. Participants will have choice of engaging a provider who needs to travel further and receive less therapy support as a result (that means, a higher budget for travel will not be included in participant plans). This is to encourage participants to use providers that are near to their homes. Different rules apply for rural and remote participants.
How much do you agree or disagree with this change?

Question Title

* 6. Why do you feel this way about Recommendation 19?

Question Title

* 7. Recommendation 20: “The cancellation policy for therapy should be amended so that up to a certain threshold, providers can charge against a participant’s plan for up to 90% of the scheduled service if the participant makes a short notice cancellation. A cancellation line item should be created as a governance mechanism for the NDIA. Currently providers can charge up to 2 hours cancelled per year, therefore this is a significant change.” How much do you agree or disagree with this?

Question Title

* 8. Why do you feel this way about recommendation 20?

Question Title

* 9. Recommendation 21: Providers can charge only for reports mandated by the NDIS eg at commencement of services and at the end of a plan, and not for other purposes. How strongly do you agree or disagree with this?

Question Title

* 10. Why do you feel this way about recommendation 21?
