Co-Occurring Disorders

Approximately 50% of people living with a mental illness also have a co-occurring substance use problem or disorder (SUD).  NAMI Minnesota hears from many families that they often don't know the signs of SUD, how to help their loved one recover, or how to find effective treatment programs. Currently, there are very few resources available to help individuals or families understand co-occurring disorders and what treatments are most effective. NAMI Minnesota is developing a booklet to provide education and resources to individuals and families of those living with co-occurring disorders.  We would like to hear from you about your experiences and what information would be most helpful.  Thanks for your help!
