In snapping the seed zones to counties, we made best estimates on provinces and hardiness zones that may not accurately reflect what’s on the ground. The purpose of this form is to gather your input to make the map more accurate and user-friendly. A high-speed internet connection is recommended.

1) Open the map (be patient – it might load slowly depending on your internet speed)

2) Zoom into a state using your mouse or the +/- buttons on the top left of the map.

3) On “the layer list” (on the right hand side) click the button next to “Eastern seed zones (edit).” This should reveal the county boundaries. It may take several minutes to load. Only do this while zoomed into a state or region or it may not load.

4) Hover your mouse over a specific county and the stats for the county will pop up (the county name, province name, province code, and hardiness zone).

5) Note the STATE and COUNTY that you would like to be considered for revision.

6) To make a new seed zone suggestion, note the county and state that is within the seed zone in which the county should be listed.

7) Please succinctly describe why you are making this suggestion. Some like scenarios include:

a. Microclimate in this county is more similar to a different seed zone. Please describe why – is this because a small elevation gradient?

b. Province more closely matches a different seed zone. If so, describe why – are you suggesting the revision because the plant communities are more similar to the suggested seed zone?

c. It is similar in province and climate to either seed zone, so a separate seed zone is not warranted.

d. Other – please describe in detail.
