Rockville Climate Change Survey

The City of Rockville is developing our first Climate Action Plan. The purpose of the Climate Action Plan is to identify the most cost-effective and equitable actions to reduce carbon emissions that cause climate change, and to increase the community’s preparedness for changes in weather events.

Maryland is already experiencing more intense heat waves, rainfall events, and storms. For example, July 2020 was Maryland's hottest July on record, and 2018 was one of the wettest years. These changes have implications for buildings, infrastructure and public health. The Climate Action Plan will identify ways to make Rockville more resilient to these effects, with a special focus on reducing impacts to disadvantaged communities and communities of color.

Working together, individuals, businesses, institutions, and visitors can all play a part in creating an equitable and sustainable climate-friendly and climate-ready Rockville. Your responses will help inform the city’s process going forward.
