The qualification test qualifies the welder not only for the conditions used in the test, but also for all joints that are considered easier to weld provided that the welder has received appropriate training and/or has industrial practice. Do you see any value in a guideline providing examples of what constitutes “appropriate training and/or has industrial practice”?

* 6. AS/NZS ISO 9606.1 Section 9.3 provides two options for Revalidation based on records of the welder’s work. Would recommendations on the type of documentation to be provided be useful in ensuring these options are applied uniformly?

* 7. AS/NZS 2980:2018 Section A2.3 states “Persons issuing reports on destructive and/or non-destructive examinations may need to be an authorized signatory of an organization accredited by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ). Should this be a stronger recommendation for NZ?
