You will be notified about the status of your application no later than Monday, April 2, 2018.

The program kicks off with a weekend-long writing retreat in May 2018 in Los Angeles. Exact dates will be announced upon acceptance to the program. Until then, please make sure you'll be able to arrange your in-person attendance to the weekend retreat.

For the remainder of the year, the program meets at least one weekday evening per month in Los Angeles.

The program ends in May 2019.

Veterans who have already participated in the program may not attend a second time. However, if you have applied in the past and had not been accepted, we invite you to apply again.

Prospective candidates from outside the greater Los Angeles area are welcome to apply, but please note that you are expected to cover your own transportation, lodging, and all associated costs. Be sure to complete Question 29 of the application.

At the end of the application, please attach a copy of your DD214 with your social security number blocked out. Applications without proof of service will not be considered.

Please keep in mind that you cannot save your work and return to the application at a later time.

Once you submit, WGF staff and/or selection committee members may reach out during the application window to set up a phone or Skype interview.
