Guidelines in preparing your submission

The word limit for each presentation abstract is indicated and must be respected. You may submit and present in either French or English, however, please be aware that no simultaneous translation will be provided at the conference.

Please structure your submission according to the following format:

For research project presentations1:
Title (max 14 words)
Abstract (max 250 words)
  • Introduction or Rationale
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
Abstract Summary (max 50 words)2

For clinical and practice-focused presentations:
Title (max 14 words)
Abstract (max 250 words)
  • Objectives (3 – 5)
  • Actions Undertaken
  • Practice Implications (although this is often a duplicate of Objectives)
Abstract summary (max 50 words) 2

1 For research papers, results can include projected or preliminary results, if the data is not yet compiled. For extended sessions, the approach to the facilitation of the interactive component of the session must be included.

2 The abstract summary is used to describe your presentation to conference delegates and will be published in the Conference Program. The abstract summary (max 50 words) may be edited.

Anonymity

Abstracts should be written in a way that a reviewer cannot directly or indirectly identify authorship through the naming of an individual (i.e., therapist or service recipient), program, service, health-care provider or geographic region. Reviewers must not be able to identify authorship and therefore, abstracts received with identifying information will be returned to the author and may result in disqualification of the submission.

References

If references are included in the abstract, a reference list must be provided in the Reference List field. References must be used sparingly (e.g. when discussing a specific approach or model) and must use the APA style. Citations included in the body of the abstract will be included in the 250 word limit. The reference list will not be counted in the 250 word limit.
