Dr. Kenneth F. Swaiman Medical Student Scholarship
In honor of Dr. Swaiman’s contribution to the field of child neurology, the Child Neurology Foundation’s Board of Directors and Dr. Phyllis Sher are proud to announce the establishment of 4 summer research scholarships for second- or third-year US and Canadian medical students who have an interest in child neurology.
This award will be for a basic or clinical research 2026 summer scholarship in child neurology, to be conducted under the direction of a child neurologist. Selected applicants receive a $6,000 scholarship for their eight-week summer project, plus reimbursement up to $1,500 for travel expenses to attend the annual Child Neurology Society meeting.
Eligibility
Second- or third-year US or Canadian medical student with interest in training as a child neurologist.
Commitment from a child neurology mentor to sponsor the student and oversee the proposed project.
Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) Summer Scholarship
Each year, the CNF offers one summer clinical research scholarship for a first-, second-, or third-year U.S. or Canadian medical student who has an interest in training as a child neurologist. The award is made for clinical research focused in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities in children to be conducted under the direction of a child neurology/NDD subspecialist during summer break. The selected applicant will receive a $3,500 scholarship to support his or her research project.
Eligibility
First, second or third-year US or Canadian medical student with interest in training as a child neurologist.
Commitment from a child neurology/NDD mentor to sponsor the student and oversee the proposed project.
