We are 4 Sisters Solutions!
Many of you may know us from our Permanency Primer© service where we coach parents like you how to reunify with their children. We were asked by Partnership for Strong Families (PFSF) to establish a parent-led Parent Advisory Council which is the reason we are asking you to complete this survey.
PFSF has asked for two things:
1) Find out from parents who have been impacted by the system how it can do a better job through a parent-led Parent Advisory Council (PAC). What is a PAC? A PAC is a group of parents who have had personal experiences with the child welfare system. The parents are selected to serve on the council and have their voice impact policies and improve services and practices in the child welfare system. Here are some examples from around the country:
2) To support parents in establishing a peer network for parents to access for support. What is a peer network? A peer network is a group of individuals who have been through the child welfare program and are connected to provide support and advocacy directly to those having similar experiences. Here are examples of peer support organizations we can learn from:
You can do one or both. This survey will help identify ways you can participate or suggest ways that haven't been identified yet.
PFSF realizes that even though they want the system to work well, it doesn't always and they really want to hear YOUR VOICE and incorporate YOUR IDEAS. The parent-led Parent Advisory Council will create accountability for the system making sure it respond to these ideas.
Thank you for your time!!
