Grace Hill Community Consultation

Shaping the Future of Grace Hill

Folkestone Town Council is exploring how best to secure the long-term future of 2 Grace Hill, the former library building now owned by the Town Council.

In 2026, the Council acquired Grace Hill to ensure this important historic building remained in community ownership and could continue to serve local people for generations to come.

Working with partners and stakeholders, the Council is developing a vision that could include:

  • The return of library services in the future.
  • Community and voluntary sector spaces.
  • Cultural creative and educational activites.
  • Public services and community facilities.
  • The restoration and protection of a significant local landmark.

As plans develop, we are keen to hear residents' views on the opportunities and priorities for Grace Hill.

Investing in Grace Hill's Future

Bringing a historic building back into active community use takes times and careful planning. Alongside efforts to secure external funding and grants, some local investment may be needed to support essential maintenance and security.

Local investment can also strengthen applications for larger grants and funding opportunities.

3.Which of the following should be the highest priorities for Grace Hill? (select up to three)
4.To what extent do you agree that maintaining community ownership of Grace Hill is important for its future?
5.The proposed investment (these costs are around security, insurance, maintenance etc. whilst the full redevelopment plans are both completed and grant funding secured) would be equivalent to approximately £4.25 per week in 2027/28 for a Band D household.

Taking into account the potential benefits and future opportunities for Grace Hill, how reasonable do you consider this level of investment to be?
6.Do you have any additional comments, suggestions, or ideas for the future of Grace Hill?
