About the Scientific Panel
Each year, the Dementia Australia Research Foundation provides over $3 million in funding to support innovative Australian research in dementia. We fund researchers across all stages of their career but maintain a particular focus on supporting Australia’s talented early- and mid-career dementia researchers.
The Scientific Panel is responsible for reviewing grant applications and recommending the top-ranked proposals for funding. It is comprised of leading dementia researchers from across the country in the areas of biomedical and psychosocial sciences as well as people with a living experience of dementia. The Scientific Panel is jointly chaired by Professors Anna King (University of Tasmania) and Joanne Ryan (Monash University). To view the current members of the Scientific Panel, please visit our website.
There are currently up to four positions available on the Scientific Panel. Members will serve terms of three years, for a maximum of two terms. If selected to join the Scientific Panel, you will be asked to review applications submitted to the 2025 Dementia Grants Program and attend meetings (scheduled for the weeks of the 10 & 17 November 2025) via Zoom. If you are unsuccessful, there may be opportunities for you to assist the Panel by providing expert subject matter advice on an application or filling a casual vacancy when needed.
