The Village of Northfield is gathering feedback from the community regarding recently adopted recreational cannabis legislation in Illinois. Effective January 1, 2020, the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act legalizes private consumption and possession of cannabis for Illinois residents over 21 years of age.  The Act also provides for the state licensure and regulation of a variety of adult-use cannabis business establishments.  The Village is entitled to collect up to 3% tax on the sale of cannabis in Northfield.

The Village of Northfield has the authority to prohibit or significantly limit the location of cannabis establishments within the Village.  The results of this survey will assist the Village Board in determining Northfield's regulations on the sale of cannabis in the Village.  This survey will close on October 31, 2019.
