Each year at the Annual Pediatric Conference hosted by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics pediatric trainees (medical students, residents, fellow trainees) are invited to present at a Poster Session that showcases research by pediatric trainees in residency and fellowship programs across the state. This event serves to increase awareness and promote discussion of clinical matters, research developments, or special interest areas.

Participants must be a pediatric trainee (medical student, resident, fellow trainee) and member of the Pennsylvania Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics. 

The Poster Session will be held on March 28, 2020 during the PA AAP Pediatric Conference at the Gettysburg Hotel located at 1 Lincoln Square, Gettysburg, PA 17325.  Poster sessions will take place throughout the day. 

Set up time for pediatric trainee posters is 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM. 

Posters will be showcased during the following times: 
9:00 am to 10:30 am
12:10 pm  to 12:20 pm
1:30 pm to 1:45 pm
2:25 pm to 2:40 pm
4:45 pm to 5:00 pm 

One author of the abstract must be present while posters are being showcased. 

Poster session abstracts must be emailed to Samantha Pierpoint at spierpoint@paaap.org in addition to filling out this form by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 28th, 2020. 

Steps for Submitting an Abstract:
1. Email your completed abstract to Samantha Pierpoint (spierpoint@paaap.org). 
2. Complete this submission form. 
Completing both of these two steps is a requirement.

Guidelines for Poster Session Abstracts:

Abstracts will be reviewed and accepted based on content and adherence to guidelines. 

The abstract should be no more than 1000 words, flush left, and single-spaced. The abstract should
be in .docx format (no PDFs).

     Filename: last name of presenter, first initial, and the word “abstract” –
     e.g. SmithCAbstract.docx
     Font: Times New Roman 12 pt
     Title: Type abstract title in upper case letters and bold
     Authors and affiliations: List authors and residency programs using upper and lower-case letters.
     Presenter’s name should be underlined and listed first.
     Background/Introduction: Describe why the research or program was undertaken.
     Objective: Clearly state the objectives of the research or program.
     Design/Methods: Describe the methods of data collection and analysis, or the
     activities developed to address the program objectives.
     Results: Present the analysis of the data in tabular and statistical terms if appropriate. What
     do the data show? What did the program accomplish? If the research or program is still ongoing, present the data
     currently available.
     Conclusion: State what the study demonstrated or the program accomplished. The conclusion should be supported by data rather than the author's opinion. If the study is still in progress and results are not available, state what has been accomplished to date.

Applicants will be notified if their submissions have been accepted by Friday, March 6, 2020.
