One of the best ways to show the impact of our work is sharing the stories of the people we serve. A heartfelt customer story can bust food assistance myths, encourage public support for your mission, and much more. But what makes a good story? And how do we effectively gather and share stories in a meaningful way while also respecting customers’ privacy and dignity?

In this interactive training, we will cover the “why,” the “what,” the “who,” and the “how” of customer storytelling for all Partner Agencies of Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Participants will learn the strategic value of storytelling; leave with practical, low-cost storytelling techniques; and get real story examples from their peers and the team at MOFC.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn what makes a story compelling to your various audiences and how sharing stories can help your agency and the wider network.
  • Get best practices on when/how to approach customers with respect and a spirit of empowerment and collaboration.
  • Learn the soft and hard skills needed to conduct a customer interview and where/how to use stories once you have them.
  • Find out how agencies can support one another and the network by helping find and spread stories that further shared goals.
