Project Description
The purpose of this research project is to understand the incidence and levels of drug use and drug driving in a random sample of Queensland drivers. You have been invited to participate in this research project because you are a licensed motor vehicle driver in Queensland.
Participation
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a short anonymous survey about recent drug use and drug driving history. Even if you don't take drugs or drive after taking drugs, your participation is welcome. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and will ask questions such as your age, and if or how often you drive under the influence of illegal drugs. You will not be asked to provide personal information on the survey form, which means that survey responses will be completely anonymous.
Your participation in this research project is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you are not required to do so and you are free to go at any time. If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you may withdraw at any point. Your decision to participate (or not), will in no way impact your current or future relationship with the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Consent
You will be asked to consent before participating in the research by ticking a box to indicate that you have read and understood the information on this page. Consent is for the use of your data and information in a non-identifiable format in this research project only.
Risks and Benefits
There are no anticipated risks beyond normal day-to-day living associated with your participation in this research project. If you provide information about criminal drug use and drug driving behavior there is no way that you can be identified or known by the police or the research team at any time.
It is anticipated that this research project will help to better understand the prevalence of drug driving behaviour in Queensland.
As a reimbursement for your time taken to complete the survey, you will have the option to enter into a prize draw to win 1 of 15, $50 Coles/Myer gift cards. If you choose to enter into the prize draw you can do so by providing your nominated contact details (e.g., email address or phone number) into a separate webpage to ensure your survey responses remain anonymous after you complete the survey. The winner will be selected randomly on September 21, 2020 and will be contacted by the nominated contact method. If a prize is not claimed within 21 days a second prize winner will be selected until the prize has been claimed.
Privacy, Confidentiality and Results
Unidentifiable data collected as a part of this research project will be stored securely as per USC’s research data management policy. Personal contact information used for the purpose of the prize draw will not be stored after the prize is collected.
The results of this research project may be presented at external or internal conferences or meetings, or by publication. If you would like a summary of findings of this research project, please contact the Chief Investigator (listed above).
