New Regulations:
As of July 1st 2017 the QMAP training and medication administration process for Host Home Providers  has changed.

All agencies that provide care to the IDD population were required to change the process of providing QMAP training.  Prior to this date the instructor was just approved by the state and all training and classroom materials were provided by the state.  They now require that every agency go through a process of becoming a training site.  The state provided an outline of all topics that need to be taught however every agency was required to write their own training material and tests which then had to be approved by the state.  Ariel went through this process and was approved as a training entity (site).

Prior to July 1st there were separate classes for different levels of care such as assisted living and large group homes.  The class for those programs was a 2 day class versus the 4 hour class that was provided for IDD.  The state now requires that all of these classes are combined into one so the 4 hour class is no longer taught.  Thankfully those of you that took the 4 hour class and were up to date on training were grandfathered in.

The class is no longer free, there is now a $20 fee for each HHP.  The state requires a fee be paid for every student that we put on the state list.  They also require that we provide all of the training materials.

The good news is that all current QMAP providers are no longer required to retake the entire class every five years.  You do have to do an annual review which like this will be provided online through our website.  The state does require that every agency do on the job training and oversight.  With that said we are now required at least twice a year to observe every employee and Host Home Provider in the administration of medication.  Your case manager will be doing that oversight and can explain it further.

We are also required to have a detailed plan for medication errors which will be later explained in detail.

Instructions: Complete each section of the review by reading the Medication Administration Review Document and then completing the Medication Administration Refresher Exam.
