The Outstanding Mentor Award recognizes excellence among undergraduate research mentors. An outstanding mentor is a good listener who makes himself or herself accessible and available to his or her students, works to guide a student researcher toward independence while encouraging student researchers to strive for excellence, and has demonstrated expertise in their discipline as evidenced by presentations, publications, exhibits, and performances.
