NACSW Nosework Trials cannot happen without dedicated volunteers who make the event run smoothly, calm competitor nerves and enjoy a fun day of dogs searching for odor. If you are interested in volunteering for the September 27-29, 2019 Elite/NW3/NW1 trials in Maidens, VA, please complete the following survey. We will do our best to place you in jobs that you have requested, but please understand that we may need to utilize your many talents in other areas on the day of the trial. * 4. There are several key jobs essential to a Nosework Trial. The following job descriptions best describe each position.

TIMER: Use a stopwatch to time dogs during their run
JUDGES’ STEWARD: Give competitors a reminder of the rules before they come to the line, pass score sheets on to the score runner, assist in the competition area as directed by Judge.
GATE STEWARD: Make sure the “on deck” dog is ready and help manage traffic flow to and from the crating area to the competition areas. Help competitors remain calm and keep dogs safe.
VIDEOGRAPHER: Video each competitor’s run at an element for the NACSW records.
SCORERUNNER: Take score sheets from the Judge’s Steward or Judge to the Score Room. This position can involve a significant amount of walking.
CONTAINER SETTER: Reset containers/boxes between each dog’s run as needed.
COMPETITOR CHECK-IN: Check competitors as they arrive, direct them to appropriate crating areas, etc.
“JACK of ALL TRADES”: Position will pitch in where needed, including providing breaks to other volunteers.

* 7. Do you have a vehicle that could be used for the vehicle search element of the trial? If so please list the vehicle type and what days it could be used. Note: The vehicle must not have had any odor on it in four weeks preceding the trial. There is a chance dogs will jump on or paw at the vehicle...we do our best to prevent it, but please do not volunteer your vehicle if this concerns you as we cannot reimburse you for damages.
