The City of McKinney is in the process of updating its local Hazard Mitigation Plan, and we want your input to help us make this a better plan for all! The purpose of the local Hazard Mitigation Plan is to develop a better understanding of the natural hazards that may pose a threat to the area and to develop actions that reduce the risk associated with these hazards.

Part of the update process includes review and approval from the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This approval allows the city to be eligible for Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant funding, including the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Pre-Disaster Mitigation, and the Flood Mitigation Assistance program.

This survey is designed to learn your ideas, help gauge local household and business preparedness for disasters, and identify actions that would reduce risk and loss from natural and other hazards. The information you provide will help prioritize local risk reduction activities, and all responses are anonymous.

The survey will cover the following topics:
  • Potential hazards near you and whether your knowledge of potential hazards influenced your decision to choose where you live.
  • Your experience and knowledge of natural and non-natural hazards, and steps you have taken to prepare.
