July 23, 2018 Member Poll Question Title * 1. Wisconsin Agriculture Secretary Sheila Harsdorf has requested that the federal government begin enforcing food labeling laws on plant-based products that are marketed using the same names as dairy products (i.e. milk). After reading the article: good idea or bad idea? Good idea. Plant-based products should not use the same names as dairy products. I'm in the middle. Bad idea. Just because a product is called "milk," doesn't mean it's necessarily dairy. What are your thoughts on this? Do you use any plant-based products? Soy or almond milk for example? OK Question Title * 2. Federal authorities are warning against possible cyber attacks in elections across the nation this year, though six new positions intended to help protect Wisconsin against such threats have not been filled. Are you worried in any way about cyber attacks or foregin meddling in our elections? Yes, I am worried our elections could be compromised. I'm in the middle. No, I am not worried. What do you think about these potential threats? Do you think the state vacancies should be filled immediately? OK Question Title * 3. After the Branson, MO tragedy last week, one former federal transportation safety official said that "duck" boats should be banned. Do you agree? Yes, I think the boats should be banned. I'm in the middle. No, I don't think they should be banned. Have you been on a "duck" boat in the Wisconsin Dells or elsewhere? Did you feel unsafe? OK Question Title * 4. Property owners, who have had their land designated as "blighted" by local officials in order to obtain it for the Foxconn development, have again filed a lawsuit, claiming that the "blighted" designation is "fraudulent" and "arbitrary." If you were the judge... I would rule in favor of the property owners. I would rule in favor of the local government. Share your thoughts on this topic. What if your local government were to designate your home and land as "blighted," (definition: ugly, neglected, or rundown condition) for a private development? OK Question Title * 5. Do you read the Property Taxpayer of the Week article each week? Yes, always. Sometimes. No, never. Do you like learning about other WPT members, and their individual stories? If you don't read it, why do you chose not to? Too lengthy? Only interested in news stories? OK DONE
