1. Introduction

THIS SURVEY IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND ALL SURVEY RESPONDENTS' IDENTITIES WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS.

This survey is for the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (A.I.). a document required of Kent County by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The County is required to analyze any impediments to fair housing choice within the County boundaries and take actions to address these impediments.

The Federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.

HUD defines impediments to Fair Housing Choice as:
  • Any actions, omissions, or decisions taken because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin that restrict housing choices or the availability of housing choices.
  • Any actions, omissions, or decisions that have the effect of restricting housing choices or the availability of housing choices based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin.
