2020 FISHING REGULATION PROPOSALS
Fishing regulations undergo a thorough review every 4 years. Last spring FWP conducted an online survey that contained ideas and proposals that the department was considering for regulation changes. FWP staff also met with angling and recreational groups across the state to discuss fishing regulations. That input was used to craft the tentative fishing regulations which were presented to the Fish and Wildlife Commission at its August meeting in Missoula. Many of the regulations that were considered last spring have been modified for the tentative regulation proposals based on public remarks from the online survey and meetings.

The department is asking for public comment on the tentative fishing regulations. Input can be submitted through this survey, via email at fwpRegs20@mt.gov, or via mail to Fishing Regulations, PO Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620. Department staff will also be available to discuss proposals and answer questions at open houses held throughout the state. The department will accept public comment until September 15.

Public comment can be submitted on each proposal within the survey. At the end of the survey, you can comment on proposals not covered in the survey.
