Introduction

Sport SA is establishing a Women’s Sport Academy to support and empower female athletes, coaches, officials and administrators to reach their potential to play, lead and change the game for current and future generations.

Initial research with State Sporting Organisations (SSOs) has identified gender inequity in the leadership (Boards and CEOs) and participation levels of respondent organisations.

Related research from the Australian Sports Commission shows that men are more likely to participate in ‘sport related activity’ and women were more likely to participate in ‘non-sport related physical activity’.
