Lived Experience Perspectives

About This Project:

Hi friends, I (Dandelion Hill) am co-creating a presentation for the Institute of the Development of Human Arts in partnership with Peer Support Space, Andres Acosta, and Gigi - @GigisTherapyWorld around Transformative Care Approaches and as always I believe folks with lived experience should be centered as the authorities - I’d like to illustrate some things during the presentation so I wanted to invite fellow folks with lived experience with Madness, Mental Illness, Neurodivergence, Disability to participate.

If you have spoons + capacity I would love it if I could include your feedback and perspective in the presentation (anonymously or with credit - whatever feels best for you).

I’m hoping to illustrate the need for peer support and other offerings as resources for mental health care; highlighting some of the areas where the current system is failing or causing harm. I’d also like to uplift alternative resources and ways that clinically oriented care providers can better show up for folks.

Lived experience perspectives only, please! Please answer only what you feel comfortable sharing and disengage with any content that is harmful or inflammatory to you. If you have any questions or access needs please feel encouraged to email me at Dandelion@PeerSupportSpace.org
1.Name + Pronouns - please only if you want your information included on the presentation, anonymous submissions are also absolutely fine!
2.Have you ever been harmed using clinical services? Shares + context is welcome, but only if you are feeling resourced and it won’t be harmful to you to discuss - please take care of yourself.
3.Do you feel like you can be your full authentic self with your therapist, social worker, or other clinical care provider? If no, you’re invited to elaborate on ways in which you’ve had to mask or conceal things if comfortable.
4.Have you had carceral experiences in clinical settings? What did that look like and how did that impact you? Carceral meaning forced hospitalization or any punitive action that has taken away your autonomy.
5.What resources have you found helpful for your mental health + overall well-being that aren’t clinical in nature? For example: peer support groups, nature immersion, art, etc
6.Have you ever used peer support resources? If so, have they been helpful? (invited to elaborate on your experiences if comfortable)
7.What can clinicians do (if anything) to provide better care in your opinion?
8.Any resources you’d recommend for more learning?
9.Anything else you’d like to share or would like included in this presentation?
