Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new year at Vernfield Elementary!  The 2017-2018 school year promises to be one filled with exciting academics and school-wide activities for your children.  Your ideas and involvement are welcome and needed.

How can you get involved?  Hands Across the District is a volunteer program that matches parents with opportunities to support the students, staff and school programs at their convenience.  By volunteering your time and talents at school this year, you will be enhancing your children's learning experience at Vernfield. Without volunteers, many of these activities would not exist for our Vernfield students.

Are you cleared to volunteer?  All volunteers must complete and return the following paperwork to the building secretary:

  • SASD Community Volunteer Registration and Disclosure Statement
  • Act 34 Criminal History Report
  • Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement
  • Federal Criminal History Record or completed Waiver of Federal Criminal History Report

Clearance forms and links are available on the Souderton Area School District (SASD) website (  Additionally, all volunteers must be tested for tuberculosis.  If you need this test, it is available from the school nurse free of charge in October.

You may volunteer for any committee throughout the year by completing this survey by September 29.  Once the survey responses are organized and processed by our school’s Hands Across the District Coordinator, you will be contacted directly by the committee chairpersons who will need your assistance. Please contact the Hands coordinator, committee chairperson(s), or the Vernfield Home and School representatives with any questions. Thank you for your dedication to making this school year a success!
