- Use transesophageal echocardiography imaging to aid in the recognition of intraoperative complications during the care of cardiac surgical patients. To choose the appropriate ultrasound imaging technique to diagnose reasons for intraoperative hemodynamic instability.
- Recognize, evaluate and manage common clinical complications during cardiopulmonary bypass. Describe the various LVAD devices and assess their function intraoperatively.
- Differentiate internal versus external cardiac masses and their causes. Know the pulmonary contributors to instability and how to rule them in or out in your critically ill patient.
