Do you love music? Would you like to be part of something bigger? We believe that playing music is for everyone. It’s not reserved for the specially gifted. It’s not even something we do because we’re good at it.

Making music is something we do because it feels good to do it and because of how it connects us when we do it together.

Babcock Jams is a new program for residents who play or sing, or want to learn how.

Join us for an opening workshop/mixer on Saturday, January 6th, at Lake Timber Lodge. If you play an instrument or sing, Babcock Jams is your opportunity to meet other residents to interact, work, learn, and even perform together. This is only the beginning of a larger arts program you’ll be hearing more about over the next year. At our first event, meet our program director Dave Isaacs, who you might have seen perform at the Nashville Night benefit in November.

Dave is known in Music City as the “Nashville Guitar Guru,” not just for his playing but for his work as a teacher and coach. He is passionate about helping people make music better and especially to help them find the joy in playing together. Dave brings his years of coaching experience and expertise to Babcock to teach how to be a better musician and leader on and off the stage.

In this first workshop, you will learn how to lead a song in a way that leaves room for people of all levels of ability to participate. The ongoing monthly workshops will teach the skills real musicians use to make music together.

You will also be able to register to form or be placed in a group of your own. This aspect of the program will come together in the coming months, but right now, we need to hear from you!

The program is open to anyone, and the makeup of the actual groups will depend on the participants. For simplicity’s sake, we are starting with acoustic groups only. Fully amplified bands will be added to the program when we open our dedicated rehearsal facility in 2025.

If you play a band or orchestral instrument, please let us know that too! This program is in the very beginning stages, but a Babcock Community Orchestra is part of the longer-term plan.
