The following information is provided to inform you about the research on parental satisfaction with their child’s cancer care in addition to the parental transparency with their child about the treatment process.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this study and the information given below. This study is being conducted by Cedar Davidson and Dr. Carmen House at the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania in order to better understand parental involvement and transparency in their child’s cancer care. The goal of the study is to gauge parental satisfaction with their child’s cancer care, as well as if parental transparency with their child affects treatment outcomes. In addition, this study should identify the areas where medical staff communication needs improvement. Your responses to the survey are anonymous and responses are only available to Cedar Davidson and Dr. Carmen House. Participants in the research will participate in an online survey which will focus on parental satisfaction and transparency.  This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Participation in this survey may cause some emotion of anger and sadness to come back. Any participation would be confidential and no personal information will be kept on individuals. The potential benefits to science and humanity that may result from this study are identifying areas that need improvement in doctor to parent communication. This study will also provide information to parents to help them decide if sharing or withholding information from their child would be beneficial in treatment outcomes.
