United for Libraries/Thrift Books Friend Conference Grant

The United for Libraries Friend Conference Grant will enable a member of a Friends of the Library group at a public library to attend the ALA Annual Conference. Applicants must be active in their public library’s Friends of the Library group. The 2019 ALA Annual Conference will be held in Washington, D.C. from June 20-25. A grant of $850, plus full Annual Conference registration, will be awarded to the recipient. The Conference Grant is administered by United for Libraries. The recipient will be required to write an article chronicling their experience at the conference, which will be featured in United for Libraries’ newsletter, The Voice. The recipient will be required to attend United for Libraries events and programs, with opportunities to attend additional conference programming.
Requirements for application:
The applicant must be a member of a Friends of the Library group in a public library.
The applicant must be a first-time attendee of any ALA conference (Midwinter or Annual).
The applicant must include a recommendation from a board member of the Friends of the Library group, and/or the library director.
The applicant must include a one-page summary of their activities in the Friends of the Library group.
The applicant must complete an official release form.
