WID Mid-Atlantic 2018-2019 Nomination Call

Dear Women In Defense Mid-Atlantic Chapter Member -
We invite you to participate in our regular election to elect a new President and Secretary for the upcoming 2-year term from 1 October 2018 through 30 September 2020.

As a member driven organization - this is your opportunity to shape the role of women in our community now and in the future. WID Mid-Atlantic strives to enhance young female STEM Education opportunities, increase the number of women in STEM career fields, and strengthen professional networking among our members, DoD organizations, defense industry, and local community. It is through collaborative relationships our mission and purpose is achieved.  WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter serves the greater Baltimore communities including Baltimore City and County, Harford and Cecil Counties in Maryland. 
 
Nominations for President and Secretary are open from June 10 - July 09, 2018. All nominees must be current WID MAC members.  All elected officers are expected to attend the maximum number of chapter events, board and applicable committee meetings. Nominees are asked to consider the financial and time commitments required for these positions. Members may self-nominate themselves for available positions. Members who wish to nominate another individual are asked to discuss the potential nomination with that individual prior to submitting a name for a nomination.
 
Elections will open tentatively from July 15  - August 14, 2018 and all chapter members may vote. Officers' transition will occur in September 2018. Officer installation will occur at the Annual Chapter Meeting in October 2018.  All members are encouraged to provide direct comments to the Nomination/Election Committee Chair Tonya Donithan no later than June 30th, 2018 via the chapter's email account at rsvpwid@gmail.com.
 
PRESIDENT Primary Duties:
- Oversees annual planning, including activities and budget;
- Reviews Chapter's financial condition and approves all expenditures and signs all contracts on behalf of the chapter;
- Participates in the bi-monthly WID National Council call and implements WID national policies at the chapter level; 
- Develops policies to aid in executing local chapter activities and ensures protocol for guests and visitors is observed during activities;
- Represents/ensures WID MAC representation at the National meetings, APG events, NDIA local chapter, PAN, and other organizational meetings as appropriate;
- Ensures chapter's leadership team (inclusive of elected officials and appointed directors) is comprised of local WID MAC members in good-standing
- Ensures chapter bylaws are reviewed every two years and approved by chapter leadership, and subsequently by WID National Council;
- Ensure chapter leaders have working knowledge of the content in WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter Operations Manual.

SECRETARY Primary Duties:
- Prepares agendas and maintains minutes of all Executive and General Board meetings;
- Maintains current chapter records on Google Drive and regularly checks the email account, responding appropriately or providing email to the respective Officer or Director;
- Retrieves all correspondences from post office box and distribute accordingly; Prepares chapter correspondences as appropriate on behalf of the President; 
- Leads the Nomination/Election Committee and ensures nomination call, voting ballots and voting tally are accurate.
